Hi Everyone! Sorry I took a big break from blogging to help our daughter Carrie and her husband Daniel move from California to Tennessee. Yes we drove from Sacramento to Hendersonville, two cars, four drivers! It was glorious! The weather was mid 70’s to low 80’s most days, dry, sunny. Definitely the most enjoyable road trip I’ve ever taken! Looking out my window today it’s hard to imagine that bright sunshine. Winter has gripped Kentucky. It’s cold, dark and dreary. No snow just rain. I’m comforted by the memories of Yosemite, the Grand Canyon and the Painted Desert. So much to think about and discuss. I’m still processing resiliency. I want to focus this week on how to build greater resilience into our journey of faith. I have noticed that resilient people possess certain characteristics and abilities that enable them to weather difficult experiences and benefit from them. One of these is having realistic expectations. Expectations are strong beliefs, that something will happen or something will be the case in the future. Expectations can be good or bad. They can guide us in our decisions or help us to develop goals and objectives for ourselves and our ministry. I became aware of the role of satisfaction in expectations through a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) group studying Genesis. Last week one of the ladies in the group shared that when God rested from His work of creation, “He was satisfied”. Sustainable Resilience
I like to travel to new places, but I’m not overly fond of delays. I get frustrated when airlines offer me incentives to take a later flight in exchange for vouchers. I’m all about the destination! But God has been teaching me a lot about journeys. I’m learning to enjoy the journey, especially the unexpected side trips we have to take from time to time.
